2 days!!

2 days until we are here........
in Punta Cana, DR relaxing on the beach celebrating our honeymoon! We are so thrilled to be taking a vacation together as husband and wife! :))))

A year ago today...

Exactly one year ago to this day, Jordan asked me the biggest question of my life. WILL YOU MARRY ME? Of course, I said yes duh!:) I never thought that I be the one getting married, but it happened. The wedding went beyond great. I can't wait to share those pics with y'all!

Here are a few pictures from that great day! Btw J proposed to me at my house in MV in front of the fam. He knew that would mean the most to me and he nailed it. Boy do I love that man!

MV

At the beginning of summer, I took a short trip to Mt. Vernon! It was a nice little break, but more importantly I got to see my babies (Bella, Avery, Ali, Emma,& Ty)! :)

I first picked up Avery who is such a little princess! I kept her for 2 days! She is just a little miracle child!:)

Then I got to go to Emma's 2nd grade end of the year party! Of course Avery had fun too!

Then we went to back to MV. I don't know what it is about sleeping in the house I grew up in but I always sleep so well there! We had a great time!
At mom's, I got to pick potatoes from the garden( Megan you should be proud), watch the kids play on the slip and slide, and hang out with the fam. I loved my time there, but I was ready to get back to my hubby!

End of School..Thankfully!

So I need to back up a little, I have been bad at blogging!! :(

SCHOOL IS OUT FOR SUMMER!! This school year has been the hardest school years that I have ever taught. I know that I have only been teaching for 3 years, but seriously this year was mentally draining and straining.

To start, I got hired in October for a kindergarten position. Prior to starting the job, I met with the Principal who informed me that this class had 3 previous teachers and that I would be the 4th teacher. At this point, I knew that I had it in for me, but little did I know.......

Long story short...for the first two months of working I came home every night crying my eyes out to Jordan about how horrible it was for me. There were many many MANY days that I just wanted to resign and not look back. However, I stuck it out and made it through! Thankfully I had some WONDERFUL teacher friends and an AMAZING husband (and family) to support me through this year.

HONESTLY...although this year was hard, I learned SOO much about being a teacher. Every single one of my students had/has some sort of baggage. Most of them have had a rough life so far and they are only FIVE years old. I cringe when I think about some of the experiences that my babies have undergone. This year, I learned that God created me for some a special reason..to be a TEACHER and to make a difference in some one's life. God placed me in that classroom for a reason!! For most of my kids, I was the ONLY stable person in their life.

"Compassionate teachers fill a void left by working parents who aren't able to devote enough attention to their children. Teachers don't just teach; they can be vital personalities who help young people to mature, to understand the world and to understand themselves. A good education consists of much more than useful facts and marketable skills."

My First Walk--Cure Search Walk

On Saturday, my friends and I were able to do the Cure Search Walk for kids. The walk was a charitable event in order to raise money for cancer patients. This walk was very special to our hearts though. One of our 1st grade students is actually the reason why we did the walk in the first place. Back in December, he was diagnosed with a large, rapid growing brain tumor. They were able to operate and remove a majority of the tumor, however they couldn't get it all. He is currently undergoing chemo and radiation. This sweet boy has been basically living in the hospital since he was diagnosed. He is slowly, but surely getting better.

At the walk, I was hit by a reality check. Here I am surrounded not by one kid with cancer, but dozens some being one years old to the oldest kid being 9.  I felt so foolish....here I am worried about my day to day activities and how I have so much to do...when there are children out there who might not even be able to experience driving a car or their first kiss. How dare I worry about such little events in my life! I need to be grateful for what I have been given. I am a firm believer in that God has plan and that HE is in control, but it is so hard for me to see the plan when I am sitting across from a little 8 year boy who has undergone more surgeries than I have ever experienced in my 25 years of life.

At the end of the walk, we sat and watched our little friend play at the playground. Even though his little body was struggling, he still managed to laugh, have fun, and make everyone around him laugh. I saw God in him and I knew at that moment HE did have a plan. I pray for our little friend all the time.

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, they are plans for good, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
